People Line Introduces Wi-Fi VoIP Phone Services

16, 2005 - Vancouver, BC - POPstar Communications Inc. (POPstar)
today announced the addition of Wi-Fi IP phone service to its existing
family of People Line VoIP and FoIP products, the Wi-Fi Phone service
is available immediately.
The
Wi-Fi IP Phone works on Wireless Broadband (Wi-Fi) and can be used
at free hot spots or on Wireless LANs. The Wi-Fi Phone gives users
greater mobility over standard VoIP adapters and IP Phones, which
must be hard-wired to an Internet modem, router or hub. The Wi-Fi
phone looks and functions like a cell phone or cordless phone, allowing
customers to make calls within a range of 300 meters outdoors and
75 meters in-doors of the wireless broadband feed. Calls can be
completed to landlines, cell phones and other VoIP phone devices.
The
Wi-Fi phone complements People Line's wide range of services such
as unlimited local calling, pay-as-you-go long distance, voice mail,
call forwarding, call display and more, which are already in use
in Vancouver. Russ McDermott, Director of People Line, says, "we're
excited about the new Wi-Fi phone because it lets wireless broadband
users and customers that deploy wireless routers in their homes
and businesses use our service with greater convenience. As Wi-Fi
hot spots grow and increase coverage or range, Wi-Fi VoIP phones
will become very affordable alternatives to cell phones."
People
Line services start at $6.95 /mo for FoIP and $9.95 / mo for VoIP,
allowing customers to pick and choose their services. Users can
subscribe to People Line's complete suite of communications services,
VoIP phone, integrated fax and email FoIP services for a low $19.95
per month. Unbundled pay-as-you-go long distance at low rates helps
customers save and prevents lost monthly airtime. McDermott adds,
"we differentiated our service by emphasizing local service, feature
enhancements and overall savings. People Line VoIP also provides
long distance savings and allows free calling home from abroad where
permitted."
The Wi-Fi phone completes People Line's product suite of soft phones
(software), IP Phones, adapters, and gateways. Soft phones can be
installed on laptops and pocket PCs that support wireless network
cards and can be used to make calls from wireless networks and hot
spots. Customers can also mix and match these devices with People
Line services.
