Business peers or customers can also be easily provided with six digit numbers to cut calling costs.

You simply need a high-speed Internet connection, a computer microphone, and speakers, and People Line supplied PC phone software. The PC phone software is available in Lite and Professional versions.

Professional adds the following key features to the Lite version:

  • Encryption of conversations to ensure security and privacy of callers making calls over the Internet or within other networked environments such as LANs, WANs, Intranets, Extranets.

          Fax Machine Email Enabling (FaxMEE)
    Requirements

FaxMEE allows fax messages to be sent from fax machines to other users' Email addresses. It also allows Emails to be received at a fax machine.

Basic Service: FaxMEE is ideal for people or businesses that do not have a PC or Internet access, or the ability to send and receive Email. Users immediately save by using a fax machine and telephone line rather paying for Internet access and an expensive PC to be connected via Email. FaxMEE is also great for sending hard copy documents or hand-written documents to Email addresses. FaxMEE 's other advantage is that long distance fax charges DO NOT apply because all faxes are sent via Email.

With the basic service, each user is supplied an Email account for receiving Emails. All Email messages received on this account will be faxed to the user's fax machine. 5 MB of storage or 50 pages is provided for storing received messages. For sending faxes, the user receives 5 numbers for local dial-up, allowing an Email address to assigned to each number. When the user dials the number, the fax will be Emailed to the assigned Email address.

Broadcast Service: The ability to send to Email address books/lists (broadcast) is also available and extra. The FaxMEE broadcast feature is ideal for businesses that want to send an Email broadcast from their fax machine.

In the basic FaxMEE broadcast package, People Line will allow you to send an Email to up to 100 email addresses using one FaxMEE dial-up number. This means you dial a number once, send the fax once, and the message gets delivered to up to 100 Email addresses. For broadcasts of greater than 100 Email addresses, please call People Line. The broadcast feature is a very inexpensive alternative to fax broadcasts because hardcopy documents are sent via Email and telephone charges DO NOT apply.

FaxMEE 1-800: FaxMEE can be used as a very affordable B2B and Customer service application that provides an inexpensive alternative to a dedicated 1-800 fax number or 1-800 Fax to Email Service.

A 1-800 fax line is often used by businesses that prefer to receive their orders, receipts, inquiries, and confirmations from suppliers, business partners, and customers by fax. Faxes may be required to be received either to a virtual Fax to Email fax number (where faxes are received into Email) or to a fax machine.

Each 1-800 fax service has merit, but both have a cost and usually are priced at premiums. Another problem is that 1-800 number subscribers pay for the calling charges for inbound faxes received on their 1-800 numbers and may also pay premiums on inbound long distance calls (higher rates). Lastly, a 1-800 number may only receive fax calls from within a specific territory, i.e., local, regional or national, etc., which limits the market reach to potential customers and business partners. To extend this reach, subscribers either need to add 1-800 numbers in more than one region or pay a premium to a carrier for greater territorial coverage. 1-800 services can therefore be an expensive luxury.

FaxMEE 1-800 gets around these limitations because your outside callers send the fax to you as an email, which can be sent from anywhere and without any calling charges - Email is FREE. We'll give you an Email address like, i.e., salesorders@1800yourcompany. When a message is sent to your 1-800 Email address, it will automatically print on your fax machine(s). The 1-800 Email address can also be optionally set to send messages to a local Fax to Email number for receipt into an Email account (for a digital copy/archiving). You can publish the FaxMEE 1-800 Email address on your web site or corporate literature, and begin processing 1-800 fax calls immediately. No territory restrictions, no monthly 1-800 premiums, and no inbound calling charges - a truly cool application that saves you a bundle!

  • Local Service and FaxMEE 1-800 Service: $9.95/month, includes 5 numbers and one Email address for each number. Long distance service charges do not apply as documents are transmitted via Email.
  • $0.25/MB/month for extra storage.
  • $0.50/number/month (single Email address/number)
  • FaxMEE Broadcast (up to 100 Email Addresses on a single number) - $10.00/month

          VoIP Gatekeepers (GKs)     Requirements

People Line hosts VoIP GKs, which provide centralized management of gateways such as Cisco H.323 compliant 2600, 3600, 5300, etc.

For companies that have high voice/fax traffic volumes or deploy access gateways like Cisco on a VPN, GKs offer the opportunity to centrally route fax/ voice calls between interconnected gateways and gain long distance savings via PSTN-toll-by-pass. For calls exiting a VPN for delivery via the PSTN.

GKs are also ideal for companies that have remotely located users or branch offices that are not directly connected to a VPN. By hosting a gatekeeper, companies can provide remote users with convenient, cost effective connectivity the central office. Calls can then be routed and easily traced to users for billing and costing.
