Please note that some accessories (i.e., IP Phones) will have additional features that may be useful to specific customers.

For example, IP phones and soft phones will have Do Not Disturb, Multi-Line Park, phone books, speed dialing, selection of languages and ring tone libraries and much more.

For adapters and gateways, many of the same features are available but they will depend on the feature set of the phone that you connect to your adapter or gateway. For example, for caller ID, your phone will need to have a call display. All devices have message indicators.

People Line's Voice Mail gives you total control over your voicemail messages by phone and online.

Play Back Your Messages Online:

You can check your voice mails without using your phone using Email or Web Mail. Voice Messages can be Emailed to you and you'll be notified of a voice messages each time you login to your Email account. The voice message will be attached as a standard sound file (i.e., .wav file)

This gives you anytime, anywhere access to voice mail wherever you have an Internet connection, and it is much more affordable and convenient than subscribing to local dial-up numbers in various cities when you're traveling. As long as you have a computer or laptop with speakers, simply log into your Email or your Web Browser Email service and playback messages.

The other convenience of receiving voice mail via Email is that you can forward voicemails to others as email or even save them to your PC's hard drive.

Access Your Voicemail Box From Anywhere:

If you do not have easy access to Email to check your messages, you can use a regular phone, cell phone or IP Phone with easy phone button menus. You control access to your voice mail using PIN numbers, and you can personalize your greetings.

If you take your portable adapter with you, calls and messages can be directly to you because you're effectively taking your local number with you. All these calls are FREE since they would be treated like local calls. Again, there is no need to buy, lease or remember a bunch of local phone numbers in each city you visit. Take your 1 phone number with you and make it easy for people to get a hold of you.

    Features     Call Forwarding       Requirements
  • Call forward to any number.
  • Control ring delay (number of rings) before call forwarding occurs.
   

Your calls will follow you wherever you go by call call forwarding calls to a number where you can be reached. The number you forward to could be local or long distance. This could be you home, office, cell phone or a number where you can be reached abroad.

Call Forwarding also allows you to forward calls to your specified number when you're on the phone or not able to answer. This enables you to get your messages or calls.

You can turn call forwarding on or off as required. Set up is easy using the call forwarding activate, deactivate features on your IP Phone or web interface.

Depending on the device, there are a number of Call Forwarding options for situations such as when your phone are busy or you cannot answer the phone.

  • See Caller's Number prior to answering the phone.

   

Caller ID or Call Display shows the caller's phone number on your display screen after the first full ring. The advantage of Caller ID/Call Display is that you can screen unwanted calls and protect your privacy. You can also screen calls that arrive in your Email.

Combined with a new virtual phone number, you gain optimal protection against annoying telemarketers. The virtual phone number is an unlisted number.

People Line does not charge extra for Call Display. It is included with Home i-Line and Office i-Line.

  Features     Call Waiting       Requirements
  • Alerted of incoming call while you're on the phone.
  • Switch between an in progress call and an incoming call.

   

Call Waiting lets you know when you have another incoming call while you're talking on the phone. You will hear a beep when there is another call.

It allows you to switch between your current call and the incoming call. To switch between calls, you simply press down the "flash" or "hang up" on your phone while you're talking to each caller.

  • Conference in two calls to get 3-way calling, i.e., 2 callers plus you = 3-way calling
  • Calls can be to any number in the world.
  • Standard long distance rates, where applicable.
  • Available on each device and easy to use.
   

People Line supports conferencing and three way calling. Conferencing simply means that you can have two or more calling parties connected and talking together simultaneously. Conferencing is an ideal feature for business to set up phone meetings / conferences.

How you conference in callers will depend on the device that you're using. With IP Phones, you will simply place one party on hold, then contact another party and press a conference function key to have a three way conference call. With an adapter that has a regular analog phone, you can use the "flash" key or "hang up" on your phone to add calling parties.

For billing purposes, we treat a 3 Way Call as two separate calls that happen at the same time. If you call some one in New York, then dial in a another in London you will be charged the long distance calling rates to these locations. These charges will be deducted from your calling plan deposit or virtual calling card. We do not charge you extra subscription fees for using this feature.

People Line call transfer lets you direct calls anywhere you want. After you answer a call, you may have your call transferred to your cell phone, to another land line or to any phone number of your choosing. Your calls are transferred immediately.

You can also transfer calls as they come in. This will allow you to transfer a call to someone else when you want. You can place the calling party on hold while consulting the individual who you want to take the call. That person can then inform you whether to take the call or not.

How to transfer calls is easy but will depend on the type of device that you're using. You should also note that for calls transferred to numbers outside your calling area, long distance charges will apply.

          Call Completion         Requirements
  Call Completion helps you to establish calls even when the dialed number is busy or being answered. Call Completion is available but dependent on the IP Phone or VoIP device that you use.

    Caller ID Block (*67)       Requirements

 
   

To prevent your number from being displayed and to protect your privacy, dial *67. This service operates just like on your regular telephone. This service is planned for introduction soon. Please visit our site for announcements.

          Call Return (*69)

Dialing *69 allows you to retrieve the number of a missed call. It is really only useful when you do not have Caller ID/Display on your phone. All People Line accessories support Caller ID.

Again, softphones and IP Phones have the call display units built-in, so *69 is not necessary.

211 Directory Service provides 3-digit access to public service information and referral services related to community, social, health and government services.

411 Directory Service provides 3-digit access to public information.

Customers who need directory assistance for information in Canada and the USA simply dial the area code + 555-1212, but long distance charges will apply.

A $1.50 charge will be assessed for each directory assistance call that is made. Customers can also log on to http://www.canada411.com for assistance.
